Our Misión
At Compadre®, our mission is to deliver an exceptional brand experience for our customers, partners, and makers. We are committed to fostering a sustainable value chain that produces the finest version of the traditional Mexican falsa blanket in the world.
Authenticity
Unlike generic brands, Compadre® embraces dye-free colors inspired by the traditional hues of Mexico. We intentionally avoid modern, pastel trends, staying true to the vibrant, authentic palette that reflects our blankets' heritage.
Sustainability
Compadre® blankets are crafted from upcycled materials, making each piece unique and eco-friendly. By using recovered fabrics that would otherwise contribute to pollution, we offer a much needed alternative to virgin textiles. Mexico's innovation in this space often leads the way, showing up first-world countries (we're looking at you, USA).
Superior Quality
We only make one product, and we make it damn well. After noticing the decline in quality of traditional Mexican falsa blankets, we set out to revive and restore them to their original quality.
Crafted with a significantly higher thread count and attention to detail than generic brands, Compadre® proudly offers the highest quality falsa on the market.
FAQ's
How do you wash a Mexican Blanket?
With a little care, your Compadre® will only get better with age. We recommend hand-washing or using a gentle machine cycle with cold water to preserve its vibrant colors. For best results, air dry by hanging it over a clothesline or laying it flat in the sun. If necessary, tumble dry on low to maintain its quality and shape.
My blanket feels a little tough...
It's not uncommon for your Mexican blanket to feel a little tough at first due to its high thread count, tight weaving and the nature of the materials used to make it. Rest assured your Compadre® get softer with time. Here’s why:
- Natural Fibers: Our blankets are made from upcycled materials like cotton, acrylic and polyester. These fibers can be somewhat stiff when refurbished, especially before they've been washed or broken in yet.
- Weaving Process: The weaving techniques used to create Mexican blankets often result in a dense, tightly woven fabric. This tight weave contributes to the blanket's initial toughness but also its durability. Over time, with use and washing, the fibers loosen up, making the blanket softer.
- Use and Washing: As you use and wash the blanket, the fibers begin to relax and break down slightly, which contributes to the softening of the fabric. The friction from use and the washing process helps to smooth out the fibers, making the blanket more comfortable and cozy with time.
The initial toughness is a sign of the blanket’s durability, and with a little care, it will become softer, more pliable, and even more enjoyable to use.
